Cattle system - Log of New System Features.
This is a list of additions that have been made to the system over time, so you can see what has been added since your last software update.
21st April 2018
New report entitled "Intermediate weight gains" in the Standard Reports section.
1st June 2017
There is now a new column in the list of DRUGS used, where you can specify each drug's charge to Custom Fed cattle.
1st December 2015
Feed Commodities System commodity description will now allow you to record any "tempering" done to grain products. You can specify the Litres/Ton of water that is added to the grain before usage. When the grain is used, only the grain component of the weight used will be depleted from stock on hand. i.e. the weight loaded into a feed truck will be adjusted in weight to account for the water added before depleting stock on hand.
The Cattle Processing Screen drug usage area now has a tick box beside each drug line. If you UN-TICK this box for a drug, its costs will not be recorded in the animal record.
18th November 2011
Feed Commodities System commodity description will now allow a shrinkage factor of up to 1.5, meaning the weight of commodity taken into stock will be greater than the truck load weight. (My be required for moisture absorption).
27th August 2015
6th August 2015
A warning will now be issued on the Yards Processing screen if an animal being processed has a cull reason stored in its record.
24th July 2014
Entries in the Drug File can now be marked as Inactive, meaning they will not show in drop down lists for drug selection.
25th June 2014
When a Digi-Star Datakey is requested, and you have more than one feed truck, the system now allows you to assign feed truck loads to Datakey 1, Datakey 2, etc. This assists in spreading the pen feeding for the day over the feed trucks you have available.
22nd May 2014
Removed the Main Menu option to import data from electronic scales. All data can now be imported from Import Cattle Data menu option. (data from electronic scales must first be uploaded to the computer).
Improved the Import Cattle Data menu option, allowing comprehensive editing of the import data on the screen before the import is started. New columns of data may also be added.
20th February 2014
Added "Trial Group" data entry to Cattle yards processing screen.
21st October 2013
Record selections can now be made for the Stock on Hand report. For example, you may now want to see stock on hand for a particular Market Category, or a Lot Number. (Prior to this, the report showed ALL cattle on hand at a given date.)
15th October 2013
Improved record selection process in cattle data import process. Allow an adjustment on the total weight of the import records to equal a given weight (on a pro-rata basis). Also an option now exists to do a Batch Update on the cattle for which records have just been imported.
2nd April 2013
Added 'Blood vial Number' to cattle records. This can be used to record a vial number when cattle are blood tested. Cattle with given vial numbers can be found later for any appropriate attention.
5th March 2013
The Import Cattle Data process has been slightly modified to ignore import data items that are blank. For example, if a data column in the file to be imported has a heading of "Group Name", and the column has no data, there will now be no change to the Group Names of any cattle records that already existed. Prior to this update, their Group Names would have been changed to being blank.
25th February 2013
Added an option in the Feed System to specify a minimum feed truck load size for each Ration Type. This is to prevent loads being generated that are too small for efficient mixing. Minimum load sizes are specified in the Feeding Order tables.
14th February 2013
Added a new stand alone application designed for use on a laptop computer while recording bunk readings, using data generated by the Feed Commodities system. This is now available from the software update web page. Contact Software Support for more information.
12th December 2012
The drafting and default data settings in the Yards Processing module have been modified to allow drafting by WEIGHT RANGE, and/or SEX and/or TEETH and an optional extra data field (eg Pen name). You can use this facility, for example, to specify different automatic drug administrations depending on the sex of the cattle, even though they may be in the same weight range.
24th October 2012
Carcase data can now be imported directly from an Excel 2007 file. No need to convert it to a .CSV file. If you have an Excel 2010 file, load it into Excel and save it in Excel 2007 format before doing the data import.
2nd October 2012
The size of the data fields for Cattle Group and Sub-Group names have been increased from 8 to 15 characters.
26th June 2012
The system will now generate a summary list of cattle during the Archiving process that is saved as a .CSV file. The file has a name format of "ArchivedCattle dd-mmm-yyy.CSV", meaning the files can be kept for future reference.
11th April 2012
15th March 2012
A Vendor Declaration number can now be recorded against a commodity supplier contract, and against a delivery docket in the Feed Commodities system.
7th March 2012 (Version 12 release)
Added an audit report to the "Import Cattle records" process, which can be displayed when an import is complete to show rejected records, and the reason for the rejection.
28th January 2012
15th December 2011.
Version 12 of the system is now available for Windows 7 and Windows XP SP3 users. This version is very similar to Version 10, but uses technological features within later model computers. It can be run on Windows XP, but only if all available Microsoft Updates have been run on the computer.
Version 12 should be installed in the same hard drive folder as your current Version 10 (default is C:\CattleRecords_PG). Once installed, Version 10 will still be available to you, and there will be two desktop icons. You can remove the version 10 desktop icon only once the new system is fully operational.
